In his book “Love yourself like your life depends on it,” Kamal Ravikant presents the idea of ​​loving ourselves truly and deeply, regardless of the circumstances. Let us reach a state of inner peace through ongoing self-love and self-care in the form of daily rituals. I read it last week and found meditation to be both beautiful and functional. Sometimes I would hold that book in my heart and cry over how much it reminded me of the beauty of life and the beauty that lies within us. It was a reminder to celebrate each day we are lucky to be alive.

Ravikant explains how meditation on self-love should become as familiar a routine as brushing your teeth. It’s easy to read, and helpful if you’re at a low level where you’ve forgotten everything you knew about happiness. It’s also beneficial if you’re in a good space mentally. Because it gives you the skills to improve your life and love yourself fully. Almost always we can do more.

One of the key principles is to repeat the mantra ‘I love myself’. I love myself. I love myself. Then, take 10 deep breaths every minute and repeat “I love myself” with each breath. The idea is to forgive and embrace ourselves. One helpful exercise is to take a self-forgiveness inventory. “I forgive myself because…” or “I love myself because…”

This got me. If we truly love ourselves, we can make a list of all the things we will do. We can also ask ourselves throughout the day to know how we spend our time and what we do. If we truly love ourselves, maybe that includes daily exercise to love our body and mind. Maybe that includes eating as healthily as possible. Or it might involve eliminating all the distractions that get in the way of us being our best selves: TV, scrolling through social media, other people’s complaints.

Ravikant’s central question can also be framed as follows. “If I truly and deeply loved myself, would I allow myself to experience this?”

Meditation: What would your future self say to you today? Your future self, who has gone through everything you have been through and more. Ravikant’s meditation involves imagining your future self standing before you with a loving and understanding smile. “And then he hugged me, kissed the top of my head and gave me love. There was nothing for me to do. Just get love. My love. Do this.”

Meditation: Similar to the above is “Childhood Strings.” Place your hand on your heart and visualize yourself as a young child right in front of you. Let any emotion flow. Meditation: Ravikant tells the story of meeting a friend who told him that he had died and came back to life. She was clinically dead and then she came back to life. She is now living this life as if it were heaven. This echoes similar thoughts from Anita Moorjani, author of “What If This Was Heaven?” Likewise, Murzani’s goal is to truly love oneself in the face of life’s difficulties. Loving ourselves is essential to our accomplishments here on earth. And seeing our life as heaven is a meditation that can take us there. So I ask again and again. What if this was paradise? Maybe so.

Ravikant reminds us that it is important not to wait to love ourselves. No matter what happens, we may never be “ready.” it’s okay. All you have to do is jump in. Don’t wait. Today, let’s go all in on loving ourselves and truly internalize these interventions. We can put them to good use. I almost didn’t publish Love Yourself as if your life depended on it. I was scared. I was writing a book about how I loved myself as a CEO when my company went bankrupt and collapsed. I thought I would become a laughing stock and my career would be over.
